2018年11月に亡くなったフランシス・レイが、サラヴァ・レーベルに残した数々の名曲、そして自演音源をコンパイルした日本独自企画の追悼編集盤。卓越した美しいメロディー・センスが味わえる。

■2016年12月のピエール・バルー死去に続き、2018年11月に惜しくも亡くなったフランシス・レイ。特にピエール・バルー～サラヴァとの関わりは深く、1961年に出逢って以来数々の作品を共作した。特にエポックとなった出来事として、ピエール・バルーがフランシス・レイにクロード・ルルーシュ監督を紹介し、のちの劇中歌になる曲を聴かせて映画『男と女』の骨格が固まり撮影が進行、フランシス・レイが世に出るきっかけとなった。その後も、【ピエール・バルー作詞／フランシス・レイ作曲】は名コンビとして数々の名曲を産み出している(「白い恋人たち」「自転車」他)。
■そんな背景と絆もあり、フランシス・レイは数多くの楽曲をサラヴァに残している。本編集盤ではフランシス・レイの有名サントラ曲だけに限らない、その作曲術の素晴らしさ、美しいメロディ揃いの60～70年代作品から主にセレクト(全曲フランシス・レイ作曲音源)。個性でもある抒情性や繊維なメロディにフォーカスした内容となっている。貴重な自演曲では、実は評価の高いスウィートな声も聴きどころのひとつ。
■コンピタイトル「あの夢をふたたび」は、クロード・ルルーシュ監督の同名映画タイトル曲「あの愛をふたたび」 (Un homme qui me plaît)をイメージしたもの。
■選曲はピエール・バルーとも親交があり、書籍『ピエール・バルーとサラヴァの時代』(青土社)を執筆、コンピーションCD『パリ18区、サラヴァの女たち』『サラヴァ世界地図Vol.1&2』(コアポート)を選曲した松山晋也氏。
